i prefer the more cartoon like 1s you do but the photo realism 1s are probably harder as to keep all the texture.

Could you not mask the cigarettes into the lips a bit more as they appear to be floating
and remove some of the smoke from the bottom just makes it look faded and move that smoke trail down a bit to the end of the cigarette
