Numb Brain - Could use some help here

Tacticalbaton, I converted the image to LAB mode, added a level adjustment layer and used its mask to mask the left side. I added a second levels adjustment layer, removed its mask and copied the one of the previous adjustment layer. I then inverted this mask. I made adjustments with 1st and 2nd...

Should a photograph be reduced in steps or all at once?

If you have Photoshop 7 or older, resize with steps of 50%. This means you can resize a few times with 50%, but also values like 25% or 12.5% are allowed. If you have Photoshop CS or later, select bicubic sharper as your interpolation method if you downsize (or bicubic if the result is too...

How to create a 3 colors band?

Seems to me that you should not try to solve this in Photoshop, but CSS itself. It also allows you to be a lot more flexible and I think that's the whole idea behind faux columns.

    Extract tool is bad ?

With all respect Nemesis, but that's not a real test, because of the plain white background. This was done in 15 (?) seconds with Photoshop's extract tool. Try it out yourself.? ;) Same story with the second image posted on that board.

    Extract tool is bad ?

About Fluidmask; last time I checked (a week ago or so) I couldn't reach their forum, now I noticed that I can't reach www.vertustech.com. I hope it's not a bad omen.? [stuned] EDIT: my fault, seems that I accidently blocked the site. ;)

    adding a shadow

Ronmatt, Namvet, great to offer members your suggestions in such great detail!? :righton: So let me follow you example, but this make a different suggestion, which is to change the blending mode of the shadow layer to something like soft light, which will make the shadows look more natural...

    adding a shadow

That's not as easy as it might seem, because you quite obviously want to add the shadows to the face itself and this requires a good understanding about how facial features cast shadows. You will also have to take existing shadows and highlights in account and create your own highlights. Sadly...

Oil Painting Type Images From Digital Cam

I think it's a 5MP when I look at the specifications at O'rite. But still, I think you can get rid of the painting look by increasing the default resolution. On my camera I have an option to do so. Have you tried this Nemesis?

Oil Painting Type Images From Digital Cam

Yes, they don't look good, even shots of 3MP cameras look a lot better than this. Personally I wouldn't trust companies that advertise with "8.0 Mega Pixels CMOS Interpolated". Many potential customers don't understand the part that reads "interpolated" and just ignore it, so they think they buy...

    Unable to follow

True, you're absolutely rigth Ron, but it wasn't suggesting to use only the smudge tool to create clouds or smoke. What I was trying to explain is that you can make Photoshop a lot more powerful if you know how to combine as many tools as possible and I tought that some people might have...

    Unable to follow

Nice one Ron ;) Added to this you can also use the smudge tool. What few people know is that spacing is turned on for the smudge tool in the brushes palette. I never understood why Adobe made it ON by default, because; a) it makes smudging slow b) the results are not what you would expect from...
