    So I set it to overlay, and what is now happening is when I put down a second gradient, it slowly erases the first gradient, each time I put down a new one. Why are you so finicky photoshop??

    Hmmm, tried that and it didn't work. I just noticed that if I put the gradient on the layer that the actual painting is on instead of the background, it replaces the entire painting with a gradient. Could it be a bug of some sort?

    Hmm, zooming out from the image seems to have helped somewhat. Would making the canvas size bigger help?

    Well, I actually do have a tablet, but I still get the problem. I saved an image of the line break, but after trying to resize it in paint.net, the image just fixed its self after I resized it.

    well, I guess not freeform. What I meant was that I am not using the shift key. The wierd thing is, depending on the size of the image, it may or may not be jagged, even at 1 pixel.

    sometimes spaces, sometimes a jagged line. It kind of mixes it up. Whenever I do a line quickly, the line normally breaks up more, where as when I do a line slower, it doesn't break as much.

    When I make straight lines with the shift key its fine, its when I try to go free form with the line that it starts to make all the spaces.
