    see that does not work for me if i select both layers top and edge i can only use the marquee tool and then it only does a square and not the shape here i will make a video for you and show you what i mean

    yes thats it i cant get the top edge or bottom edge using the channels i move it down and have no small selection which will become your "Near Edge". i dont know if its broken or if im doing it wrong
