    Just realised that the trace of the phone case and trace of the camera are seperate layers to the "mask" of the duplicate image, whereas you have created the traced areas all on the "mask"

    I still can't seem to create the image deleted from case look. When i deselect the original image im left with the black traced area with the white traced camera area. I have made sure mask is selected when right clicking to "make selection" Can't understand what i'm doing wrong :/

    Thank you for all your help!!! I can't seem to get the hang of it though. I have duplicated the image, added layer mask, traced around with the pen tool, changed colour to black, yet when i turn off original layer i am just left with the black traced area

    Perfect, that's exactly what i was asking :) However, I'd like the image to be placed on the back. How do I create a template like that? Ideally, i'd like to use the image attached as the phone template to place pictures on, as it displays the clear sides of the case. Would it work like above...
