    How do they do this...

I've been looking for some type of tut. or even whatever this is called. I'm referring to the background "sunbeams" behind the figure in this img: Any direction would be appreciated. I've been just creating a series of thick lines then skewing them to get a similar effect but it's in no way...

Torn Out Border - how is it done?

I've seen a lot of design work such as the piece below using a rough "torn" border. I'm just wondering if anyone has some nice tut's to get me up to speed with this. I'd also like to learn a bit about the ornamentation around the title and artist name. You know the gold foil looking stuff. I...

    Ransom Note Effect

Thanks for the tips... I've already done this... I'm a fairly competent photoshoper as I do it for a living... and I've done a few versions of this that may look good to most people but it's still just not "right"... I'd considered cutting out from scanned photos but ultimately I'm going to...

    Ransom Note Effect

Hey everyone, I'm working on a logo and had a cool idea to incorporate a "ransom note" effect on part of it. My attempts so far have been just ok. I was wondering if anyone had seen any inspiring tutorials on how to achieve this. If so I would really appreciate a link. To get an idea of the...

    Change Color Of B&W Logo

I've got a regular B&W logo that I'd like to add a little color to. I'm using photoshop CS and I've messed with the "Replace Color" feature but I can't get it to do anything. I would just select the black portion and then fill w/ my color but I'm getting jaggies etc... Thanks

    Fade Gradient?

cool... Now once you get comfortable try adjusting the gradiant so that the white is more prevelant than the black and v/v... Masking is an incredible tool. You can also use masking like an erasure so that you can "erase (actually color on the mask w/ white or black)" and if you trim...

    Fade Gradient?

opacity should just be left at 100%... In your layers pallate highlight the football player layer -> At bottom of Layers pallate click the bottom 2nd to left icon which is the mask -> In your football player layer you should have 2 squares (one being the image and one being the mask) ->...

    Logo Creation

She's right... If a designer doesn't do up many "ideas" based on your wishes then submit them, they most likely aren't professional. The logo process is very important and could be the biggest part of your startup as you are new and will depend on the logo to introduce your company to...

    Fade Gradient?

I completely understand what you are looking for.. That's why you apply a mask to the layer... The Black And White affect opacity (transparancy) Please try suggestions before writing them off.

    Fade Gradient?

you'll need 2 images for this.. A picture of a football field and a picture of a football player. put them in 2 different layers. add a quick mask to your football player layer. Then use a black to white gradient on the football player layer.

Can PS open Canon Raw Format files?

Yes! I've got a canon 300D and once I started shooting in RAW I couldn't find any third party software that could open the format. At the time I had PS7 for Mac and it didn't work. I upgraded to PS CS and Tah-dah.... It opens nicely.

very cool.. Thanks for the input... This is a cool trick that I've seen for a while but never tried. I also tried doing the same thing but applying a heavy wind filter and it creates a similar effect but not as "liquid". good stuff..
