looking for help in buying a monitor for PS processing

Is this the correct forum for this topic? I'm looking for someone who is very knowledgeable about the latest in monitor technology and products. I'm no expert in PS...in fact, I mostly use Lightroom, but both rely on the monitor for color accuracy, sharpness, etc Michael

    size problems pasting in jpgs

I'm creating a map using a base layer and placing images around the edge with lines pointing to the correct location on the base layer map. I'm using my own jpg files which are sized to 2x2 prior to bringing into PS. So, first, I'll explain how I'm TRYING to do it and how it isn't working...

can't figure how to put a border on the canvas

Agent, One thing about PS is that there are a ton of different ways to accomplish the same objective. Since we're publishing multiple titles, I'm using each one as a template so I need to keep all the layers 'cause most of them change, but I saw some tutorials that involved a similar approach...

can't figure how to put a border on the canvas

I guess you have to follow each step or it doesn't work cause I sure thought I'd done this. I think I didn't "select". Thanks, Hawkeye

can't figure how to put a border on the canvas

I'm designing an eBook cover. The final work needs to have a very small black border around the entire canvas so that if the result is displayed against a white background (our cover has a white background), it stands out. I have figured out how to STROKE a border (I'm using 3 pixels INSIDE)...

    text labels

I'm adding text labels (along with lines connecting the text to a circle placed on a map) I'm having trouble figuring out how best to approach this. There will be approximately 20 sets of text/line/circle. When I use the text tool, for each item, PS creates a layer. I imagine it's the same...

    Looking for online reference source

Just read some reviews of The Missing Manual and other than the glowing one that is word-for-word in both the O'Reilly and Amazon reviews, there are some negative reviews suggesting this is NOT the best source for photographers. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to ask or post a question of...

    Looking for online reference source

Yutosi - I'm a photographer. I "found" The Missing Manual because it seems to be O'Reilly's top CS seller. Are there any other alternatives you could suggest that I look at? Thanks!

    Looking for online reference source

Thanks for the input, but I was really hoping for something much more specific. Yeah, O'Reilly media has a lot of material. Too much. And, it's not cheap. So, Gaussian, are you able to recommend a particular book that is more reference than tutorial? And, iDad, what the heck to you mean...

    Looking for online reference source

Thanks. Clearly there ARE lots of wonderful tutorials. But, to me, a reference and a tutorial are not the same thing. Maybe a book?

    Looking for online reference source

I'm sure I'm missing something, but I've had a lot of trouble getting information about all the various settings and options in PS. I know I can buy books and DVDs and sign up for tutorials on sites like Lynda.com and I probably should. But the way I normally work is to try to figure it out...

    Hello from beautiful, central NJ!

After taking early retirement and just relaxing for a couple of years, I started shooting. I've really enjoyed it and it's a great way to spend my savings. I've mostly worked in Lightroom. I enjoy digital darkroom work almost as much as shooting. I used PS only for a few, specific jobs -...
