    You can try Quick Selection tool (the same section as Magic Wand) with different brushes.

    To change standart gradient to your special one you should click on small squares(see the gradient strip): the squares above will change the opacity; the squares below allow you to select colour.

    rebel_witha_cause, Hi again! :) The steps: 1) Draw a circle on a layer with solid fill (say, white). 2) Blending Options. Set radial gradient fill. The fill example is in attachment. Red numbers are the values for Opacity. 3) Blending Options. Set Fill Opacity for this layer in 0.

    And one more thing. If you draw a circle and then overlay it with radial gradient, you can avoid first solid fill in Blending Options of this layer. Make the Fill Opacity to 0.
