    Fading the edges of a shape!

    I'm trying to fade the edges (not centre) of a shape which i have done so far through layer masking with the gradient tool and then inverting the mask. It is rather difficult however to centre the gradient properly so that it fades out equally in each direction. Is there an easier way to do this?

    Hi guys, i'm sure there's probably an easy trick to this, i just can't figure it. I'm wondering how, if i have 3 layers, how do i make the third layer below the first, whilst still above the second? Here is an example of what i mean I basically want it so the green line overlaps the black...
