Hello everyone. These are photos by a wedding photographer from Malaysia.
I am wondering how to get the rainbow lens flare effect on the photos. Can it be manipulated and produced by photoshop software?

Need help here. Thank you.

There are many ways one can make a rainbow effect. For a quick job and/or if the rainbow isn't a very important part of the scene, the method I prefer is fast, but unfortunately it costs money and isn't very configurable: just click on the rainbow effect in the Tiffen DFX suite of filters, ie,

I started with this scene:

After applying Tiffen's rainbow filter to it, got this:

At the other end of the spectrum (pun intended) to the above straight-out-of-the-can approach, one can do a completely DIY (do it yourself) rainbow. Besides requiring no purchase other than PS, this approach is completely customizable. To do this, make a layer with a narrow band of gray tones running from black to white. Then, apply a gradient map adjustment layer with whatever colors and whatever order that you like. You then can put this layer over your scene using something like a "linear burn" or "linear light" blending mode. Warp it into an appropriate shape, soften it, and you have a Martian rainbow or lens flare, or whatever..., LOL.

HTH,

PS - I would be surprised if Instagram and other "instant effects" type of programs didn't offer cookie-cutter rainbow presets for the masses of cell phone snappers.

You could do 7 circles and stroke each one with a colour of the rainbow (in order - R,O,Y,G,B,I,V). Then if you make the circles a smart object, you can create a mask so only bits of it show, add blur, and change the the blend settings.

I did this very quickly and rough just to show you, but you should get the idea. There many tutorials in youtube that cover the smart objects and such.

P.s. the scene as it was before is from Cartel Themes.
