Chrome green

Chrome, like painted surfaces, is about reflections. These reflections are distorted if the chrome is curved.

In this image, you can see the reflections of the ground, sky, and the photographer.

Depending on the circumstances (such as yours), I would just select the area of the car I wanted to turn green using the Pen Tool, use a H&S adjustment layer set to colorize, play with the blending options, in this case I used "color". This method preserves the reflections of the original image.

Here I also clipped a Levels adjustment layer to blow out the highlights giving the green color a more "chrome like" effect.

As described by Sam. Once a selection is made of the colour that you would like to replace, use this active selection and paint on a new layer in Color Mode. Use curves adjustment layers to adjust the contrast, saturation, etc. with this same selection.

I now see what you are trying to do. You're trying to make a graphic on a car skin (for a game) appear to look like green chrome. Originally, I was thinking it was just for a single car image because that's what you posted as a sample. Nowhere in your OP did you state it was for a graphic on a car skin. Had you stated that, you could have saved us some time.

There's nothing you can do to the graphic in Photoshop that will generate the chrome effect. All you can do is change the color and/or add more components to the graphic. As I clearly stated above, chrome is about reflections. You can't add reflections to your graphic. You could but it would not look right in the game. The reflections generated on the car in the game will be the function of the gaming software since the cars surroundings will be constantly changing.

Here you can clearly see the reflections generated by the game...........this is as good as it's going to get unless there's a function in the game software to change the brightness of the reflections on just the green color!
