    you can try to darken some parts with curves-adjustment layer if that is not dark enough you can add a second curves adjusment-layer then you can use a 50 % grey layer on 'linear light' for dodge & burn on just parts of the image here is a PSD...

    first option is Always to get the most details out of the photo in camera raw with the sliders if that does not work , then you can go to photoshop copy the left part of the face flip horizontally and place over the right part of the face lower the opacity and mask carefully...

    maybe like this you can use displacementmaps , but first make both shapes thesame with puppet- warp or transform- warp
