Cutting out an image to put on a black background (Help)

Screen shot wouldn't help. I didn't know you have PS to use, so I'll give you all steps. The procedure is to 1) duplicate the layer, 2) on the new layer> Image>adjustments>Replace color, 3) click the eyedropper in the grey area, 4) in the pop-up, move the Lightness slider to the far left...

Cutting out an image to put on a black background (Help)

A very simple fix used to give you something until someone with real skill arrives. The background is solid enough to use Image>Adjustments>Replace Color in Photoshop and change the grey to black. Then a layer mask to remove the change in the dog. It leaves some grey in the fur at places, though.

Where is the best place to share your photos?

Check out DigitalGrin at https://dgrin.com/ It's not a place to upload a lot of photos, but it is a place to show good photographs that fit a theme of one of the forums. Free, of course. As in any other forum, lurk first. See what the regulars are doing before you jump in.

Which is the best tool for background removal?

When using the Layer Mask brush technique, I usually set some softness to the brush. The Eraser is 100% hard, so I can wipe out large areas with the Eraser without leaving traces. Then I go to a Layer Mask with a brush with some softeness and clean-up. Not a necessary technique at all. Just...

Which is the best tool for background removal?

It's a change of subject, but this exchange leads to the question of when the Eraser tool is the best tool to use. In my case, I make all cloning edits on a blank layer above the layer that I want to change. Sometimes, if extensive cloning is done on an image, and some areas of cloning are...

Which is the best tool for background removal?

Even using the eraser tool on that layer, the erased pixels can be restored with the History Brush tool provided the file has not been saved and closed. My own workflow is using a Layer Mask, but I will sometime use the Eraser tool to delete large areas of background and then creating a Layer...

Which is the best tool for background removal?

I'm a bit confused by IamSam's comments. The tool used does not determine if the edit is destructive or non-destructive. Any tool can be used non-destructively if layers are added. When I delete a background, I use these steps: 1. Duplicate the Background layer. 2 Add a blank layer and...

    Logo request

This is the logo of the Vancouver Giants professional hockey team. Probably a trademarked logo.

Need fresh eyes to look at this pic please!

The right arm of the woman in the black top looks as if it is grafted to the left arm of the woman in the dress.

    Dave Hill effect?

Glad you fond a tutorial that works for you. I tried another one with a face, and I'm still not impressed with the technique. But, if you like it, go for it.

    Dave Hill effect?

I am not impressed with this effect, but I'll try something new just to see what the result it. At an art show I saw a drag queen getting ready to go out for a promotional appearance and photographed him from the back. I Googled "dave hill tutorials" and followed one to create this image. I...

    Picture edit

I choose a different route. Making a selection of the dog is just too difficult with all that hair. So, I cloned some of the right side bushes into the left side and muddled up the lower right, then added a vignette so the background doesn't show.

    Resizing worries

Actualy, I know that a ppi number is not needed. However, the crop function in Photoshop has a space in which ppi can be added. It doesn't have to be added, but it can be. Some people are uncomfortable having something that can be added but not knowing what to add, so I include a ppi...

    Resizing worries

Your image at 2714 x 1811 is in the same 3:2 ratio (or near enough) as the desired size of 300 x 200. You can set the crop to 300 x 200 at the desired ppi and you will have a sharp image at the right size. without losing any of your image. For web display, a ppi of 72 to 100 is sufficient...

Photoshop CC2017 New Features and Bug Fixes

Additional problems are that the shortcut links on your desktop link to what isn't there anymore. Rather startling until you figure out why that link doesn't open, and you have to add a new one. NIK's package is gone, too. You have to move it from 2015.5 to 2017. If you have "Open With"...

Please photoshop my cats head onto a white background

I understand that this group is about Photoshop, and not photography, but I see a lot of requests for edits that wouldn't be needed if a little care was used in the first place. Or, where a second shot would eliminate the problem. Being aware of the background is the biggest consideration...

Please photoshop my cats head onto a white background

Someone will do it, but unless they take an inordinate amount of time and care you are going to lose the whiskers. That's cruel to the cat. You have a camera, since you've posted the photo, so use it to take a photo of your cat in front of a solid background with the background several feet...
