    Agreed....looks tough at first, but break it down into layers / masks...easy. The polished metal background is also easy to find in a number of different tints...

    I use the same method as Chris, and agree with the time. After I use refine edge, I will get out the brushes on my mask...I cannot do clean crisp masks without touchups. An hour per image is not that long....until you need 100's of different images...I might think of altering the shooting...

    "quick mask" is not in elements...until PSE11 ? ...no biggie though Easy enough though, make a black or white mask layer, paint with the brush tool set to Black or White...

    select the letter make a mask....quick select, or pen tool....once cut your letter can be saved by deleting the background layer fill with your red sparkles, save as a png for the transparent background. I used a simple red layer instead of sparkles, and my mask is sloppy and quick...I did this...

    look in bridge and see if each shot has 2 versions.....the smaller size sounds like a jpeg to me, if it is a raw file it will open in ACR first

    First work on a duplicate layer (Control J) Then use quick selection tool, output that to a new layer with a mask, then hit Q and play with your mask with your brushes

    looks too tall, Larry has the right start, flip and manipulate the g. The original g was ddesigned as a team logo back in the early 60s. A number of teams use it freely, BUT it is not known as a font.
