    Wedding Edits

Took a picture of this couple on their wedding day two weeks ago and just came around to editing the images. Quite pleased with myself actually, as I am still learning the ropes of photo editing and retouching. Even altering the backgrounds a bit to put the focal point more on the subject of the...

How do I improve these Photos?

Wow TonyCooper, thanks for the tips as well. If I'm being absolutely honest #8238 was a rushed photo, I had to go and didn't have time to get the fence out of the picture so I just cropped it out. It bugs me to no end that I couldn't get an empty wall. The advice on taking multiple photos both...

How do I improve these Photos?

Hi Tom, Oh my god, talk about small world. You're in that forum too? Haha I figured I'd post it here as well to get the point of view from PS experts rather than just camera enthusiast. Thanks for taking your time to giving me a different set of advice. I read what you have to say and you're...

How do I improve these Photos?

I went on a little photo adventure yesterday to take pictures of surrounding things. The idea was mostly to put into focus what I learned recently about adjusting the aperture, shutter speed and exposures to gain images that look good enough IN camera rather than only getting a satisfied...

Duotone, quadtone, faux colour high key?

Holy crap Tom, that was SO helpful it's unbelievable. Thank you! I now totally understand the use and need for all the tones. In fact after doing what you suggested and Googling some of the designs, I found myself actually liking some of the effects (still not keen on high key though). I...

    Basics to achieve great photographs

Whoa thanks for the advice f2bthere and Tom Mann! I'm familiar with the idea of taking two shots and combinding the effect, using Photoshop to add exposure to certain areas and the whole flash/background combo. But how exactly does density filters work if I may ask? I loved the old pictues you...

Duotone, quadtone, faux colour high key?

I just learned about duotone, quadtones and faux colour high key in one of my Photoshop lessons but I don't actually understand what are the purpose for the last two. Could somebody who knows a little bit about it explain it to me? If what I understood was correct duotone images are handy for...

    Selecting a Signature from Photo

Ah curves tool to change the colour and feather for softness, I as so worried that feathering it would take away most of the little selection I had but ahhh! Genius. I was using colour overlay and that just looked sad. Thanks Chris! You're awesome. P/S: Are you German by chance? Because I've...

    Selecting a Signature from Photo

The paper was like this: And the ink looked like this: Ball-pen consistency so it had a bit of a faded black touch to the colour.

    Selecting a Signature from Photo

I would love too but I don't think I'm allowed to do that as the person who asked me is very particular about what goes up on their net. The background isn't so much of a problem though, it was written on a simple white paper so that was pretty easy to take out. It's just while the outline was...

    Creating a Portfolio

Thanks for the tips Chris! Isn't Behance just breathtaking? There was a girl who posted a SELF-MADE version of the entire Harry Potter books for some final exam design project. It glowed in the dark and had pop-out arts and everything. I would pay good money for a book like that, no lie. Hahaha...

    Selecting a Signature from Photo

Hello! Yes questions seems to be my favourite thing here doesn't it? Haha I have been asked to selected a signature out of a paper image, simple stuff I realised. Now my only concern is that when I look at the image at 100%, the edges are very jagged, especially when I try to apply colour...

    Creating a Portfolio

What are designs classfied to make a good portfolio when you're starting on in the Photoshop field? I've gone through Behanced and that site just puts me in awe at everybody's talented creations. I really want to be able to upload somethings there too but would I put my own creations? Jobs I've...

    Reflections and Hair Edits

Aw gee wow thanks for all the help Chris! I've been trying to learn all these little things to tackle designing a full own photo manpulation (background, hair color, eyes, different things and bits of objects added in) that's what it's called right?

    Reflections and Hair Edits

Does this look better? Because I realised my mistake. I kept wondering what you meant by invert selection, thinking of the hardest tricks when really I should have just realised you selected the easiest thing (the white background) and inverted the selection. God, such a blur moment on my part.

    Reflections and Hair Edits

Thanks Chris! I did the selection with masking the layer and then using refine edge to get more details, but that also made it more translucent in some areas. I tried your methon, mine still came up with choppy edges... Do you think it's the way I'm selecting? I never thought hair would be...

    Reflections and Hair Edits

Attempt number two was made! Better than before, that's for sure but Chris seriously how did you managed to mask her hair so amazingly? I literally re-did my selection a hundred times trying to get it done nicely without having the tiny hairs become so translucent. But nothing that I tried...
