Page made in photoshop amd imageready

Its very good Alistair :righton: --When I first opened, I was confused by why the two unequal metal bars on the left hand side, then it becomes obvious when one uses the disjointed rollover menu. My suggestion would be to drop the bars or have an opening page photo of the school positioned...

    Surf and Surfer Gallery

    Amazing to me how many "hits" the moon has taken. Large and small, the objects smashing therein didn't knock this moon out of orbit. Makes me realize how much travelling stuff is burned-up while on its way to ground 0 earth. It would be fun to see a glowing harvest moon - shop it Hatch! %}

    Makin Glass

Hi --Usually its done with a white gradient over the glass area sometimes putting a tiny blur on objects behind it.. Takes some tinkering to get it right. Study what happens in reality and try to re-create nearly as possible (I learned that from Mark - the keeper)

    Basic Ripple Effect

Welcome Snooty - good question and you are in excellent hands with Welles however, always remember, helping you would be more effective if you would post the problem. For example I don't know wether you are speaking about a bitmap or vector image. Each has a different way to accomplish your...

Beginner's first PS image, looking for criticism

Hi very clever design. Only suggestion to add to the comments made by our members: try to put a slight glow around bar man to separate him from the bar code and also give you more dimension (also allow us to see his left ear). I'm would be interested to see if blurring the barcode gets you...

    My own site finally up!

I had another look because your site was bumped. It seems improved and I realize some words are spelled differently in English --as opposed to the American way. ;) I like the Lucy site you demo - good work. :righton: A thought: On your masthead you say "Design that works" my...

3 level graphic menu -> Rollover yes or no ?

Hi Lionness welcome nice to have you here. I didn't look at your samples but from your description, I recommend you go to Dreamweaver for your rollovers, they allow three stages and they also accomodate Flash if you are so inclined. If the works gets complicated, switch to Fireworks and...

    Font type question

I don't have anything in my font file that looks similiar. Looks hand drawn to me. Your friend could scour the free font sites to find a similiar one and manupulate the letters to resemble the sample.

How can I use a SPECIFIC font(s) with XHTML or .CSS

Hey -- there you are -- good to hear from St Louis, we've been batting our brains out for you! :D ha ha. If you try to learn all those languages --we'll never hear from you again If you have a specific need for a site under development, just cut and paste and modify a pre-existing...

How can I use a SPECIFIC font(s) with XHTML or .CSS

Thanks for the input. Good research. I hate those automatic downloads too and never take them. Makes sense about streaming, anything can be streamed nowdays. I agree, its not fully developed -- I'm definitely staying with GIF, JPG or using a CSS Family of Fonts. As we are forced to...

    Adding sound to webpages

Before you give up, consider many music sites give short clips of the songs. I did a site for a clock store selling musical clocks --I used a small sound bite to give the viewer a taste. http://www.clocksclocks.com/ see left menu bottom. It pops up only because the clocks are animated...

How can I use a SPECIFIC font(s) with XHTML or .CSS

Yeap Mark its my understanding that the server has to download the font set before page opens for viewer. I think that is one of the reasons its not well known or a popular technique with web designers, there are better options AYK. I was quoting from CSS 1 I noticed on CSS 2...

    Optimization of files

tfoster - Thanks for chimming in. Opinions from members are always welcome AUK Some webdesigners are designing sites for countries outside USA that only have modems and the service quality is not consistant. I have friends in Iran and Syria ---DSL is not available at all. And the pipe line...

How can I use a SPECIFIC font(s) with XHTML or .CSS

Ahaaa good question. I had this item noted in my CSS files incase I ever needed it. It did show an example of the font being used in the text just like one would specify using HTML. The viewer doesn't get free fonts, unless he reads the source code and downloads it. I think to answer your...
