    the "nebula" needs some work and the lens flare needs to be brightened up a bit. I would suggest putting the flare on the top point of the seven.

    Abstract Practice

    Everyone starts as an amateur. I don't see any blending with the brushes that you used in the background. I do see more with the images that you used. Some things to do to blend them together would be to do feathering or take a soft eraser and erase parts so that they blend together.

    The Color Dynamics for my Brush Presets is Locked

    hold CTRl-ALT-SHIFT (sorry not familiar with mac to give you those options) when starting photoshop. This will clear your preferences. ALso there should be a lock next to the text if its a closed lock click it.
