    Colour Splash...photoshop.

I may of read this incorrectly so apologies if I have but it sounds like you want to keep the pink ice cream colour from the original and drop everything else out, I would do the following: Put a black and White layer mask over the image and then paint on the mask in black to reveal the areas...

Easiest way to CREATE gradient banding?

You could also use the Indexed Colour mode: Image/Mode/Indexed Colour If you do this you can set the numbers of "bands you are looking for and it should be very smooth. This was created with these settings: This does however have the drawback of affecting your whole image so...

Screen resolution for photoshopping (1366x768 VS 1920x1080)

Hi Alice, I would always suggest get the best resolution you can afford however there is another option that might work. If the cheaper version saves you enough money you can pick up a 21" + monitor for a very good price (less that £150) which means you can set up a duel display when working...

    Photo Help

Hi I'm really sorry to hear about your friends mother. I have tried to improve the picture but as I'm sure your aware its pretty poor quality. I don't have much time at the moment but will have another look later. For now this is what I managed to achieve. (HDR and a few filters) The...

    Completly new at drawing

Hi C.Will.Tool I think one of the first things you will need to do is pick up a drawing tablet if you don't have one already, it's gonna be real challenging without one. Plenty of choice out there but Wacom is the best. Their entry level product is the Bamboo but have a look on Amazon and you...

    I'm useless in photoshop

Hi Sequel When you draw your circle over the square you need to activate the subtract selection option: Its the 15th icon along in this picture, if you hover over them you will see a description (In PS). Should have what you are looking for in no time :) The above is for Photoshop CS5...

    Books on CS5?

I agree with Cbez, I have the same book and although fairly basic it is an excellent place to start with CS5, there is also enough in there to help lead you onto some of the more advanced areas when your ready. Specifically good for you this edition places a fair bit of emphasis on what is new...

    Posting Attachments

I'm also using Chrome and only get the URL option - looks like a switch to a new browser might be in order ( then again posting in the advanced options is no real biggie...) Good luck with sorting it

    Challenge #20

Thanks Clare :) @Spruce - I was looking at the Bamboo but within the £100 price range I set myself you didn't get a very big working area with the Wacom products. In the end I went for an Aiptek 1400u that has a drawing area slightly larger than A4 and was £90 on Amazon. I was thinking of doing...

    Challenge #20

I know its not realistic but it is all hand painted from scratch... My first attempt at an Anime head. Took way longer than I thought it would and who would of believed hair would be sooo difficult! I now have a new appreciation for some of the art I see on the web. webwize

    Frame Scaling

Hi Lamprey I have posted the images so others can see them a little easier but I have to admit I am not sure what it is you are trying to do? I'm probably being stupid but could you clarify a little more by any chance.:) webwize

    How to get the effect

The more I use photoshop the more I realise there seems to be a million ways to do the same thing :) The best is just personal preference in most cases ... (I do love a layer mask tho)

Has anyone gone from drawing & painting realistically to more imaginative work?

Hi Anna, Have you considered doing all the drawing / painting in photoshop with a Graphics Tablet (unless that's what you are already doing)? I am in the process of doing this right now with Fantasy art and I'm having a ball. Also magzines like Digital Artist and Imagine FX are a wealth of...

    How to get the effect

Hi Axa Timmy's method will work or you could get the two images and place a mask over the top one and paint out the areas you don't want on the mask. This will be non destructive and allow you to make easy corrections as you go along. Have a go and post the results in the forum :) webwize
