    Vanishing Point or vanishing patience

I had to reinstall PS the other day - and found the toolbox playing up like this. Deleting the preference file and settings file and then restarting PS fixed it.

CS2 Problems With Rendering--Lighting Styles Went AWOL

I haven't tried that. if there's several I want to look at later I usually just drag them into a folder on the Mac's desktop and then open them using Photoshop.

    Digital Scrapbooking!!!

Canvassy backgrounds - and what about a title page in the style of the old fashioned samplers they used to be so fond of making? Could be quite interesting making the lettering look like it's actually been embroidered.

    Photoshop Toolbox Won't Work

I used to get this sort of thing every now and again with OS9 and earlier - Photoshop 6, then 7. Deleting preferences cured it. haven't had the problem in OSX - yet.

    alien seascape

I especially like the lace effects. Fascinating what you can do with these clever machines!

    Digital Scrapbooking!!!

I expect the plants are painted on the wall - it's a posed studio portrait. Date - probably 1900 or so. She got married in 1911 (shotgun wedding).

    Digital Scrapbooking!!!

What about old photos of grandparents, great-grandparents etc? This is one of my grannie when she was young - something similar in a sepia tone would look good on your page.

    Garden statue revisited

Would you like the original picture of the statue in the garden? See attached. The statue is called "Eliza" (and also "Egyptian slave"); I got her from a garden centre a couple of years ago. I put "revisited" because I'd used it several times in other pictures - but I don't think I've posted...

Numb Brain - Could use some help here

Bit more fiddling with colour balance. Split the picture, cutting the rhs onto a new layer and then adjusting colour balance, contract and sharpening. I think Tacticalbaton has got the ground a better colour than I have.

Numb Brain - Could use some help here

I've fiddled with the colour balance and strengthened the reds - is this nearer the original colours? Also slightly sharpened with unsharp mask.

    concept bike

Brilliant! We could do with a tutorial for this the sort of thing in the "pdf tutorial book" that's been suggested.

    pdf tutorials for photoshop

A good idea, Ron. You know this could provide a new outlet for ideas - first your pdf book, and then perhaps a joint creation by members of this forum? For a start there's a lot of tutorials here that could be assembled into a manual.

Wacom and other tablets: which to get?

Thanks for the replies. I shall shop around and see what price bargains are available for Wacom over here. Probably be September before I spend anything more on the computer (car service and insurance this month for starters...)

    collages

Fascinating - I love that face in the rose! Is she real or a drawing?

Wacom and other tablets: which to get?

I'm thinking of getting one of these drawing tablets - but thought I'd ask you all about them. Plenty of reviews in magazines, but I'd rather hear from people using them everyday. Who here uses which tablet? What do you recommend? NB I use a G5 Mac running OSX (10.4.6)

    Bridge

same idea here - but using multiply instead of darken, for more dramatic effect

    Bridge

Used a copy of the background, darkened, flattened and then a touch of unsharp mask. brings out the clouds and highlights the bridge a bit more.
