OK Lee, here you go. The first is directly out of the camera. The second has been 'tampered' with. First in Artezin where I added luminescence and contrast then that was taken into PSCS3 and really tweaked. It's very saturated but I'm pleased with the almost surreal feel of it.

    tech advice please

You see, that's why I posted this question on this forum. So far I've only heard conjecture ( I'm not refering to this thread ) on the pros and cons of a dedicated machine. My opinion to this point has been based on that conjecture, which is, a dedicated machine will allow PS to run at optimised...

    tech advice please

Thanks for the info gaussian. I didn't actually elect Vista. It just happens to be on the machine. I have the XP disk as well as the service pack 2 disk and may decide to install it. I actually didn't want Vista on my other PC. I suppose I'll just leave well enough alone if I decide to...

    tech advice please

I purchased yet another computer yesterday. No big deal. It's a HP Slimline with 2 gigs Ram and Windows Vista Premium. The reason I bought it is this. I wanted dedicated machine for PhotoshopCS3e, Artezin and Lightroom. Nothing else on it, not even networked into my system and especially no...

    new to hdr

Lee, I really like the first one as well, funny thing is, I'd just gotten the camera that afternoon and spent some time getting to know it. This shot was taken using available light, just at sunset. I set the camera on a counter and pushed the trigger, whalha. I got exactly the shot that I...

I know, the blue is just there and the hdr process seems to 'bring it out'. Trying to remove it only makes it more evident and I haven't tried 'selective editing' yet, I don't even know if that's a possibility. Please check out the other thread...

    new to hdr

continueing from another thread. These are some more experiments using the CS3 'merge to hdr'. This probably won't interest some of you photography 'purists'. But I find HDR to be an exciting new approach to creating a final image especially for use for magazine and book covers and for...

You're right about the lenses, mindbender. I suppose it would be like trying to put a Porche engine in VW. I'll just learn the digital and upgrade within it's format capabilities. In the meantime. I spent some time with a sunset in a nearby canyon. ( I drive past this scene 3 times a week and...

    Please gimme advice

ya know, I'm a designer and illustrator, so, I tend to go a bit 'overkill' I suppose. But I'm beginning to change my philosophy when it comes to websites. Having just gone through some extensive research, on the web, regarding which camera to buy, I found myself hungering for sites like yours...

Fun website for photographers and Photoshop users

Here's the frustration Lee, I've always used a cable release on the 'ol Nikon. As well as the 'depth of field' preview.....My digital has neither feature, and I can't seem to be able to 'auto bracket' when shooting camera raw??????? So I am using the timer for stability when shooting static...

Thanks for replying lee, I'm off to pick up an 'Italian made' tripod that I found on 'craigslist', Here's the ironic thing. I live in a remote location in northern California. Turns out that this guy is only 15 min. away. After muy time checking mid-range digital cams out I settled into a...

Lee, your work looks like HDR. Is it?... I'm becoming a born again Photoshopper since I've discovered HDR. So.... I have a few questions; 1) do you bracket your shots a full 2 stops as a rule of thumb or do you have some way of calculating your bracket per shot? 2) do you change any settings in...

    Prepping image for screen printing?

To begin, your art isn't prepared correctly. A) use cmyk colorspace, not rgb. B) The black should consist of black only, no under-color. Color trapping for screen printing can be a nightmare. C) you have a black square field with the logo centered in it. If you want just the logo to print...

    wood.

spring has arrived to the mountain with all it's glory. I spent the week down in my shop, straightening up, upgrading some tools and getting blades sharpened. Now it's back to my first love, designing and building furniture. I posted this because?...When I think of all I've gained on this and...

    background extraction

good idea lasa, I'll hunt for a complex image and upload it, hopefully we'll get some other people to do the same then vote and get to work. I didn't try it on the dress gaussian, namely because I wouldn't use that solution on that particular subject, The pen tool would do nicely..

    background extraction

I just tried a demo of OnOne's MaskPro 4. Although I've got to spend some time with it, it appears that this may be the answer to the 'background removal' issue we all wrestle with. It's features may already exist in some other extraction plug-ins, but they're new to me. Following their tutorial...

    Need some help

there are a few ways to do this. one would be to create a vignetted mask and pasting the photo into it then trim the top and bottom. This way doesn't leave you too much control though. Here's an example of another way. I prefer this technique because of the control it gives me. A. make a...

please help how to do this

obviously, if you're working with your photos, pre-planning your shoots can provide the answer. Setting up the photoshoot with the proper lighting and backdrops will eliminate much of the work. If you're working with photos that contain complex backgrounds then, as lasa said, there are endless...

    creating map

If you find some map making software, guess what, you're going to have to learn how to use it. All of the tools you'd possibly need to make a map can already be located within Photoshops vast array of tools. You have Photoshop already, right? :righton: If you have a specific question on making...
