Will Photoshop CS5 Work on my Computer

How can I do this...? (before and after)

I played with it a little... this is what I got by using Hue/Saturation, Curves, Color Balance, and Vibrance adjustment layers, plus an Unsharp Mask to the image.

How can I do this...? (before and after)

Filter --> Sharpen --> Unsharp Mask should work well also, if you need to you can use it on a duplicate layer and mask it to only certain areas of the image.

Moving layers is VERY slow and jerky in Photoshop CS5

I don't know if it's a hard drive issue or not, but the fact that it persisted after a wipe/reinstall of your OS makes me think it might be hardware related. That computer is definitely able to handle Photoshop and even video editing or 3D apps very well, it's certainly not a CPU or memory...

How can I do this...? (before and after)

Looks pretty good iDad. Play around with adding masked curves adjustment layers and painting in light and dark areas for the lighting effects.

how do i mask two images?

What version of Photoshop are you using? The usual way to do this would be open both images in Photoshop, duplicate the layer of your face onto the sphinx image, use the transform tool (Ctrl+T) to get the position and size right, then mask out the parts of your face pic that are not needed...

If you make a selection that is not feathered, fill it with a color, then you can use the Stroke layer style to make a hard edge border around it.
