    Layer-switching mid-stroke

You can't do it like that... But what you can do is make the stroke... then duplicate the layer. So now you have this: Stroke Object Stroke Duplicate Then go onto the stroke layer and just take the eraser to it wherever you want it to go underneath... because the other layer is below that...

    New Here

Didn't mean to sound so harsh. Just been dealing with this issue a lot lately. Those images look well composited. Welcome to PSG.

    New Here

No stealing? Like what... taking someone else's artwork and editing it for yourself? :| I'm all for taking your favorite movie/book/art/whatever and making decorations for you to enjoy... but don't be hypocritical about it.

    Cut in Half

But then... that's true of any method you use. You can't subdivide a pixel on a graphics program by definition. ;)

    Depends what it is for.

    Cut in Half

Copy half to a new document and crop the original document in half? Not sure what you're going for here.

Adding images to a background layer: newbie question

Yes, I was agreeing with your assessment and in fact rescinded my earlier comment. Just accept it graciously. :P There's lots of little quirks here and there. That's what we're here for. :)

    how to make splashing shape

Well... without knowing specifically what you want it's hard to say. Can you post an example image of what you're talking about? "Splashing" is kind of vague. You could create a more cartoony style splash using the pen tool. You could create a more realistic splattering type effect using custom...

Adding images to a background layer: newbie question

I wasn't commenting because I thought you didn't know that indexes wouldn't move to PSDs, it was the latter half of my comment that I was simply trying to mention. No need to get defensive. :P Of course, but there are also weird-ass quirks in Photoshop and any complex software that often are...

    mimic offset press

For future reference, those are called "halftone rosettes" :)

Adding images to a background layer: newbie question

Yeah, the alt-dragging is unnecessary, but shouldn't hurt anything. Gaussian ? if you have a GIF and try to drag into an RGB it will drag them snap back like it's locked. If you aren't familiar with this quirk in Photoshop, it can be highly confusing and aggravating and appear that the layer is...

Adding images to a background layer: newbie question

Is the image you're trying to drag a GIF? You can't directly drag a GIF into a PSD. First change the GIF image into an RGB image (image > mode > RGB color). Welcome to the forums.

    Photos that "glow"

Hand cleaning the image is going to be the best bet. Making a duplicate of the image, adjusting the curves, then masking out the rest of the face. Maybe adding some actual glow on a new layer with a soft brush or a copy of the image that has been gaussian blurred and then had the opacity reduced...

need to make a seamless background when tiling

It's around, it was just bought by Corel. Simply called "Painter" now. In Photoshop there isn't something that is specifically like that, but you can do similar things using the offset filter. If you have say, a pattern already built that doesn't tile yet, go to filters > other > offset and...

Can't even get a graphic to print centered on paper

Can you post the PSD somewhere? It might speed things up if I could just look at that and see what is going on there. I'm not sure how you're building the PSD, but one thing you can do is set your document up so that it has transparent space around whatever you want centered and is the size of...

Can't even get a graphic to print centered on paper

I was just assuming you had already... but have you clicked "center" when you print? Most printers have a feature to do that.

    Help with a picture

Help you? Sure, that's what we're here for. Make a graphic (or use a template) of the correct size. Type your text with whatever font you want to say "Learn Cameras" using the type tool. Using the type tool again, type the text "You're [sic] photography stopover" (I'm assuming you meant to type...
