    Got Digimarc?

I was wondering if anyone here has taken advantage of the Digimarc filter in Photoshop, or signed up for any of the Digimarc image protection packages on their website? I was checking the feature out this evening and it dawned on me that this might be a useful tool, but I wanted to get some...

    I think I'm lacking the "pen-tool gene"

(this is the same response I wrote to you in another thread, where you asked basically the same question .....) Hi Neo, I found this great web site where you can download PDF practice templates for drawing with the Pen Tool. You can open these in Photoshop and use them to practice drawing...

How do you cope with jpg artifact when upsizing an image?

I use the JPEG Repair tools that come with Alien Skin's Image Doctor http://www.alienskin.com/idoc/idoc_main.html I highly recommend this filter. I've been using it now for about a year and it does wonders on JPEGs.

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

I posted the template because you had asked about standard sizes for a CD cover, and I thought this would make it easier for you to design one, having a template to follow. Actually, I found its better to start off in RGB mode and then convert to CMYK when you're done, as I discovered on this...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

You're welcome, Rick :) Additive color, or RGB mode, is optimized for display on computer monitors and peripherals, most notably scanning devices. The printing world operates in subtractive color, or CMYK mode. For more info on this subject I found this page...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

This was not "a last jab". I have a right to express my feelings (I would hope so anyway), so to explain it better I want to say one last thing .... It doesn't take much to admit when you're wrong. Heck, even as grumpy as I am I still admit when I'm wrong. And also if I insult someone or...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

Thanks, Mark. Well, in all honesty, it came across that way to to me (as a "know-it-all" attitude). That's my feeling about it anyway. No one person knows everything, and obviously I was right to begin with (the RGB comment) so there was no need to carry it further. Anyway, moving on...

    QT

First of all, what is "a QT for the Web"? A little more info, please. Secondly, if you are getting a watermark symbol (the QT) on your work then perhaps the program is only a demo version?

Scanner Calibration w/ photoshop or default twain driver...

A lot of us Photoshoppers do come across this problem, but you have to at least tell us what model of scanner you're having problems with. For instance, without even knowing what scanner you're using, "the automatic method" tells me nothing. A little more detail will help get your answers :)

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

Mapetite, I stand corrected. Good point. I also found this web page, which just taught me a couple new things or two .... you're never too old too learn. http://www.jensm.com/photoshoptips/rgbVsCmyk.htm

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

Ok, this is getting out of hand. I didn't want to get into a debate at all. I was simply trying to offer advice from my own experience as a graphic designer. There are plenty of sites out there with valuable information on the issue. My advice would be to check out the resources offered on...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

Ok, let me try saying this another way: Since RGB was originally created for images displayed on the Web (and not for print), and since there is a night and day difference between Web graphics and images designed for print, it goes without saying then that one would not want to use one format...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

I disagree. RGB mode is strictly for the Web. All you have to do is type RGB in any search engine window and you'll find tons of pages telling you the same thing. And I would not recommend converting from RGB to CMYK. If you're going to do a design for print, then start that file in CMYK...

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

CD covers are always designed for print, since they are usually mass produced for record labels. Also, the RGB mode is for the Web, as I said above, so naturally you wouldn't design something for print in RGB mode. What's the difference? CMYK identifies the four colors used in traditional...

    Shopping for a new PC...

Erik is right. I have two hard drives myself (one 30 gig, one 90 gig). I have designanted the 30 gig hard drive as the main Scratch Disc for Photoshop, and have allocated 320MB of RAM for the program to run on. It is amazing the speed with which Photoshop runs now. Before I did this it took...

    Happy... um... November...

Just wanted to share this with all of you - a tidbit from my past: In the 6th grade I was taken to the principal's office for refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance in class. The principal called my Dad and he came down and the teacher told my Dad I had refused to say the pledge. He...
