Help with "Car busting through paper" image?

The car itself looks good (yeah, get rid of the mts!) but the paper rip lacks any kind of detail (wrinkling, folds, shadows) and that is what throws the whole picture out of wack.

Help with pen tool & path

Why not just recreate path over original shape, drag path to blank document and then resize document. Paths are elastic and will size accordingly.

How do I do this STEP by STEP?

This can be done in PhotoShop using the original as a template (layer 1, opacity at 50 or less and layer locked) and using pen tool or brush in quick mask mode and just doing a solid color fill. OR... Use Illustrator...cuz that's what it's for! : )

How can I do this...? (before and after)

Not Duo-tone...looks sort of like one though! : ) I did this in 10 minutes using rough selections and "replace color" (Image/adjustments/replace color).

Jagged Lines - why can't I get clean lines?

    1) Check your res, even if designing for the web...start out with hi-res. Downsample at the end. 2) Check your color space, should be CMYK or RGB not Indexed Color 3) Try rasterizing text then applying effects.

    Please help with print basics!

Steve, you are correct...I meant Proof Colors. : ) BUT...I do also sometimes apply a softproof profile that we have developed to show CMYK calibrated to our presses.

can you help me out please?

Sorry if this is repeated info...I didn't want to wade through every single response (but what I did read...didn't contain this info) To make a clean selection on your grill there are two ways to do it (so it looks good anyway) 1) Use the pen tool and silo it out with a path. This method...

Fixing an image that was taken at an angle

Two quick and dirty methods: Method 1 1 Jump trees and sky to separate layer, keeping a small amount of water attached. 2 Using transform, rotate until horizen is straight. 3 use stamp tool to rebuild gap in water Method 2 1 Make wide selection of warped areas 2 Using liquify (under filters)...

    Install both PS4 and PS5

I have boughten all my software...but you may want to look into finding a friend or family member who is a teacher/educator. They can get you full versions of the programs (educational versions) for much cheaper. Of course these are to learn on...not use for commercial purposes...but they are...

    Please help with print basics!

You can also work in RGB with a softproof profile attached...it'll view close to what your output will look like but still leave the versatility of working in RGB.

    Please help with print basics!

Unfortunately, I do not have enough knowledge on the subject of home printers to address this in-depth. Commercial printing is more my forte'. But logically it seems that with a proper profile for the conversion you should be able to get a wider gamut starting with an RGB image than with a...

can someone help me do this look

RHstanley3...I do understand! : ) But I think they were asking how it could be achieved using Photoshop originally. I completely agree with getting a good photo is the best way to get closest to this look. But I have yet to see an image that needs absolutely no retouching. I work with a lot...

    convert to pantone

Just a few more thoughts on your question... 1) Why would you need all the colors in pantone? There is no way any project would be printed this way because each pantone is a seperate plate (also called a bump plate) and it would be extremely costly to run all those plates. 2) Maybe pantone...

    Please help with print basics!

People can say a printer is a RGB color space all they want...it doesn't make it so. ALL home printers are CMYK (plus extended gamut colors, like vivid magenta, etc). The reason for this is the ultimately simple answer...printing using inks is an ADDITIVE process, where colors on a monitor...

advice/tips or even paid help needed

Best method for "hard edged" items is using a silo path. Best method for "organic items" like people is a soft mask.

Why doesn't the blur tool EVER work?

Grab your brush and make a quickmask of what you want to blur, goto filter/blur/gaussian blur This will give you a much more effective blur.

    convert to pantone

No way that I am aware of... Pantones aren't a mix of 4 standard colors like CMYK or 3 colors like RGB, each color is a unique recipe, each shade of that color is another recipe, each hue of those shades is another recipe...etc, you get the idea.

    Computers

At work we use Mac Pro's...but I do same caliber work at home on a Mini with 23" monitor. I also have a MacBook which is nice for mobility but seriously...no way you can calibrate it for any length of time.

What is this effect called? Or how can i get this effect?

These images are very similar to what Bon Appetite magazine leans towards (I've worked on their images...mucho work on every one!). You can achieve this effect with a normal photo, but it is a lot of work. Starting with a properly shot/lit image makes it a ton easier. Duplicate the image and...
