    Photograph to Comic Book...Quick!

Fabulous effect on the detailed sections, Klaatu. Now, how would you go about evening out the blotchy colors in the skin tones? That was why I went to B&W, because the skin tone colors were starting to dither too much.

on giving hints or offering the full solution

Well Joe, just keep in mind that all the praise you've just given is in response to a forum that embodies most of the concepts discussed in this thread. If you look close, you will find that by and large, you don't see a plethora of "stewpid newb" questions, nor do you find a vast and...

on giving hints or offering the full solution

First off, Klaatu, the issue you are trying to "highlight," of the symbiosis of the sharing of knowledge, experience, and expertise is not overlooked on these Forums. That should be more than obvious by a simple exploration of the various areas here, ranging from the NEW USER Area, to the...

on giving hints or offering the full solution

Good point, Klaatu. But the question then arises as to how many times should a low-level technique be taught when the answer could be easily found with a bit of effort, oft times faster than posting the question and waiting for the answer. Also, the discussion here is in regards to the querier...

"To the 5 Buroughs" Cover question.

Early Alzheimers, what can I say... Is it time for my medication yet??? [saywhat]

    i need help (tutorial)

The Buffy background appears to be a picture that has been very burred. There is a gradient applied to the text to give it a varied coloring. Read your User Help Files (F1) about Gradients and about Gaussian Blur, and experiment with some images. Post your results here. Good Luck!

    Photograph to Comic Book...Quick!

OOh, cartoon effect from photograph! One of my favorite challenges! I've yet to do it the same two times in a row, but my current favorite is to strive to convey depth, such as the folds and drapes in the fabric...

    3D Mixed Media

The haze around the moon is inconsistent with the surrounding scattered clouds...it's one of those "weather doesn't do that" type of things. And the light sources facing the viewer with the tilt of the planes, and the moon in the background, while the sub's light refraction is so subdued, in...

"To the 5 Buroughs" Cover question.

Congratulations! You've just learned a really valuable tool. Research. You found out so much more than what you originally asked in your Original Post, and were able to not only learn, but ended up sharing what you found. May all your inquiries in Life be so well answered with a little effort...

"To the 5 Buroughs" Cover question.

Joe, then you didn't look at it close enough for long enough. Once you've studied enough digital creations, the "telltale" signs of digital creation become obvious enough, as The Keeper will agree. Spectre's stand isn't as clear, as he was discussing speed, and CG can be time consuming...But...

    3D Mixed Media

The colors of the jets don't match/fit with the rest of the image. Between reflections and refractions, there's no way they would look that yellow/brown. Also, the water looks way too fakey. The "ice" floes look like stripes, and the "shoreline" is far too obvious. Such are the limitations of...

"To the 5 Buroughs" Cover question.

Looks to be a combination of the two. Possibly a skyline photo to start with, with some judicious Illustrator work to make it look "hand drawn." The windows are definitely brushes, and the building outlines, for the most part are definitely CG.

    ClipX v1.0.3.2 for Windows (freeware)

What would be the use for such an app? Or is it meant for those not running Windows applications? Windows Office offers a 24 entry clipboard. The app you are testing isn't usable in Photoshop...so, tell us more about what apps you can use it for. Multiple entry clipboards are handy on occasion...

Removing tan lines and bags under eyes

Use the clone tool, or the Paintbrush at very low opacity, and make a gradual build up. Start with a larger brush, and work your way to a smaller one. It's not one-step easy, but you have the tools to do it properly.

    Illustrator Illustrator 8 info

First, good luck upgrading to 10...copies on e-bay are available, but going fast, and going more and more expensive. I'm running 8, works fine with PS7. Make sure you have the patch installed, though.

Is there a pic viewer like XP's for 98?

There is a fairly inexpensive app called Ulead PhotoExplorer Pro. I bought it about 3-4 years ago when I was running 98 on my PCs. It allows you to view all the files on your PC, either as thumbs or full screen, and you can rotate .jpgs with no degradation when you resave them vertical. You...

Perhaps an odd question about extraction and superimposing

Another point for you to consider. Now that we have a better idea what you are trying to accomplish, let us focus for a moment on your desired pattern. Are these being done in "seed" beads, or larger ones? If done in the small seed beads, you should make a nice, clear, sharply defined image...

Perhaps an odd question about extraction and superimposing

The problem lies in your original description. I thought you meant a small area of larger beads. For what you now are describing, let's try again. Use a small brush, and place it over a solid colored area to orient your clone source, and click the Alt key. Make sure you have the aligned box...
