    can't change image to one color, please help

    Have you tried adding a new layer on top, changing the blending mode to colour and painting over with whatever colour you wanted? It's strange the replace colour function isn't working with this because it should.

    LOVE IT TOTO ha Make a selection around the place where you want the beard Add different level noise on a black background Switch the blending mode to 'difference' Add a layer mask and slowly paint away the harshness on a low opacity black brush.

    http://www.photographymad.com/pages/view/digital-cross-processing-in-photoshop That link should help you, although the artist has added extras in this photograph with warm lighting effects which are more than likely just painted in with soft brush on a different blending mode.
