Photoshop or some other vector drawer like in flash?

Great :). Don't worry about early struggles, we all struggled with the pen tool at one point.

Photoshop or some other vector drawer like in flash?

Your best bet is honestly the pen tool. I know it's a nightmare to work with at first, but once you nail it it's a great addition to your skillset. I hope it's ok for me to post this, as it's on my own blog, but we published a tutorial specifically about helping people learn the pen tool, and...

    80s explosion poster

Thanks Paul :). Yup, Tron was a big influence. I didn't want it too shockingly saturated, so there's a fair amount of texture work in there to give it a slightly worn/muted feel. Happy to share the tutorial for this if anyone wants it. I can PM it across as it's connected to a site selling stuff.

Happy to help Dayvid :). PM me if you'd like the source file for reference purposes.

Adding an image onto a block of flats.

Is this the kind of effect you're trying to achieve? Basic steps: 1. Use transform>distort to fit the union jack to the building 2. Change layer blend mode on union jack layer to 'multiply' reduce opacity to around 50% 3. Apply layer mask to union jack layer 4. Rather than selecting each...

Adding an image onto a block of flats.

Ok, first of all, you'll definitely need a bigger size of photo. Preferably for both, as it's better to work at high-res, but at the very least the union jack needs to be as large as the side of the building. Do you mind uploading your version so far, where you weren't happy with the result?

I'm not seeing any images I'm afraid. Did they attach ok?

Thanks a lot! :D It was really fun to work on.

Adding an image onto a block of flats.

Hey Dayvid, Do you have the images you could post? That would be really helpful. Typically, I say it's worth putting in the effort to cut out windows, put in the details etc... Perhaps it's the method of cutting out windows that is damaging the effect. I've seen the effect done, but I'm not...

    80s explosion poster

I'd love some feedback on a recent poster I did. It was a collaboration with the guys at Go Media, using their 80s vector pack. Just had some fun with it and messed around with lighting effects and details to build it up.

    Subwoofer

Yup, looking good. Nice to see some creativity and variance in the main gradient, not just a standard gradient effect.

    war of the wedding

This is great! I agree about adding some more highlights to the machines to fit the wider scene. Couple more tips: I don't think you have yet (it's kinda hard to see though), but I'd add reflections of the machines into the lake Also, given all the smoke, I'd make some of the tree branches...

    2 Stocks & 5 Smoking Layers | CHALLENGE #2

Haha :D. Thanks a lot. It's amazing how layer limitations make things 100X more tough. That and the fact the images were totally incongruous lol.

^ agreed. You'll have to share the technique for getting that hand-drawn look, it's great.

Thanks :). Do you mean add the final image on it's own without the layer's panel? (see above)

    2 Stocks & 5 Smoking Layers | CHALLENGE #2

Wow, this was much harder than I expected. I normally love using a ton of layers, so this was a real challenge. Not quite sure I pulled off the idea I was going for, but it was fun anyway :)
