    there's something here that came before puppet warping, and it is 3D extruding with texture and to me it looks like plugin usage probably alienskin. warping to shape came on later.

    do it backwards then. wand select all of the white background hit delete to clear it if you want your image transparent choose select-inverse then edit-fill-use your desired color. hope it helped. alternatively, you may want to smmoth or refine edges of the selection before filling.
