    I like where you've gone with the colour but I think the OPs starting work is outstanding. I think if a middle ground could be found it would be great. I've just spend the last few minutes flipping between both images and I do prefer the rework but thats very much an opinion thing.

    Depth of field in PS

    I know you're asking in a photoshop forum and its very possible to do - but I'd do that in lightroom if you have it. Just use the adjustment brush and apply varying levels of reduced (ie minus setting) clarity and sharpness - the auto mask is generally pretty good too and is easy to refine.

    Thanks again Hoogle, I may well do that but knowing how tight work is they'd never fork out a penny :) You;re right I'll just have a play about and see what I can come up with - I see a visit to various tutorial sites and google images in my near future!
