    Cheers Hoogle - bar for the font it was the best I could come up with too - I think I'll have to poke around and look to a different styling altogether - probably overlapping letters, that sort of thing. Really appreciate you taking the time to help by the way.

    Couldn't you desaturate as a smart object? EDIT: Nope, but you can apply a black and white adjustment layer to a smart object, or just as an adjustment layer for that matter.
