    A question of honest ability...

I consider myself creative. I come from an artistic family, my mother could draw your exact likeness without thinking about it. But alas, my drawing abilities suck. [innocent] I can kick butt in pictionary, but that's about as far as it goes. Stick ppl :bustagut: Example: I needed to...

    Sepia tone photos

    I use different methods, depending on the picture but here is an easy and fast way: With your image open, click Image>Adjustments>hue/saturation Then check the Colorize box. Set your Hue to 40 and Saturation to 25. Hope that helps get you started. :}

    Shadow/highlight function in cs

If I need to use shadow/highlight. I will duplicate the layer and put the blend mode on softlight and play with the opacity. This usually helps put the life back in the washed out colors without blowing anything out like brightness/contrast does.

    A special painted effect...

There is a conversation about this guy's work in this forum: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1006&message=9685836 He even came in and shared some of his tips. There's a ton of posts about it, so this will send you in the right direction. :)

I'd be interested in seeing what this effect looks like. I've never heard of it either.

    Why can't I do A Conaoc sheet????

What is the comp you are working on? Even with a gig of ram on a 'strong' computer, I still have problems trying to work with too many images at once. I was batching something just last night and photoshop closed down on me several times. [stuned] And it always happened at the same point...

    Silk/satin tutorial or advice

I didn't explain that quite right ( I do that a lot :B ) I never posted in the thread, I just meant everyone who asked him how he did it.. he said he would post a tutorial but never did. And I figured after 2 years it was a safe bet that he is isn't going to. :bustagut: Thanks again.

    Silk/satin tutorial or advice

\:] The second sample in that thread is awesome! More realistic but he never comes back and explains how he did it other than offering a few tips at first. So I've just tried going off of what they suggest. This is what I've come up with so far, and I'm still not totally pleased with it...

    Silk/satin tutorial or advice

You would think somewhere out there is a silk/satin tutorial, but I can't find one that works for me. I only found 1 and it didn't even come close to turning out. :bustagut: I'm trying to create a smooth red silk/satin (are they the same? :B ) effect so that I can place a picture on top...

    Creating this effect

;\ Thanks neo. I tend to get obsessed over these things. :bustagut: I did a lot of layer tweaking, merging, more layers. Like I said, it's not nearly as cool and far from perfect, but I look forward to learning with you all. :D

    Creating this effect

Am I jumping the gun here by posting what I've come up with so far? It's far from being right, and I'm curious to see what else I can learn here. I think I dreamed about this last night. :bustagut: I used the extract tool to clear out the background. It was a quick job. I would have been...

    Creating this effect

Yes, I think I see what you are saying here. I have been playing around and can't get the effect with a soft skin tone. The skin needs more texture than the picture I provided.

    Creating this effect

I have a studio picture of my daughter which my husband took which might be perfect for this. It's a head shot with a white paper background. Let me dig it up.. :) ( EDIT: I removed the images :} )

Unsharp mask, resolution and digital images

Oh thank you all! :D I have much to read and digest now. I'm sure I'll have some questions in a day or two, but I'll let this sink in first. To dodo: I probably *do* get on his nerves, this is why I need a fresh angle from you fine folks. :bustagut: My husband's camera is a Nikon D1X...

Unsharp mask, resolution and digital images

Question and suggestions please but let me explain myself a bit first. Work on my husband's digital images a lot so I know the basics on sharpening a picture, even learned the hard way to not over-sharpen. ;) I play with the pictures, I don't snap them, that's the husband's hobby. I've...
