    Took a try ad ran it thru Gigapixel - increased size by 50% to 3072px X 96px. Kept the resolution the same - 72 ppi. See if this works for you...first time working with this type of file... https://we.tl/t-KQnK8wdPJ8

    I would be difficult for me to add any technical opinion beyond what John and Rich have offered. My first thought was whether you had assigned a profile to the image but that would affect color. I tool the above image and ran it thru Camera Raw on auto just to see what was changed - the shadow...

    Had to take a few guesses here...tried 2 versions, one with original sepia tone and a second colorized...eye color is a guess... Could use much more work but hopefully these are of some help... :)
