    Fade the background a bit, and decrease the contrast. Use a texture for the main page part, use a horizontal navigation, use ONE bamboo stick.

    Drawing is great, but bear needs more details (fur) and that bags beneath the eyes don't look so good. But, every good aspect of this image is shaded away by this awful font, and it's style.

    No. You can see your active paths in the menu, it should be right beside your layer tab (by default). From there, you can CTRL - click on a path, to select it. Now, just make a new layer, and fill it with any color you want. But, this way you don't get vector shapes, so beware.

    You do realize that logo is usually made in Vector format? Also, it's a good thing if it's simple, and if it looks as good in b/w as in color.

    Play with lightning, burn and dodge tool. Try bevel and emboss for some radical effects.
