    I think you need to CTRL+Click the image icon in the Layers Palette. I`m a PS 7 user, myself, but I think I read that somewhere.

    I would start with a search for "Baroque patterns" If you don`t find ay that you can use, create one with the pen tool.

    Getting a tan : 1)Select skin,Type CTRL+U? for the Hue/Sat dialog and play with the sliders. 2) Select skin, create new layer, fill with brown, set to color, mask out eyes, lips, etc. Try other Layer Modes, too. 3) Get some sun. It`s outside. Hair. 1) Try the extraction tool. it works pretty...

    This was just a quickie using the magic wand at a setting of 10, and about 5 passes. A little more time and care will produce a cleaner result.

    Can`t really tell too much rfrom that image, but if your daughter is the one in the purple dress, I would first suggest that you select her face and use the Curves dialog(CTRL+M) and adjust the curve up slightly.

    More info might draw more helpful responses. What else is there to be removed ?Is it a large map ?Can we see it ? In any event, sounds like a major project involving alot of tracing with the pen tool.
