    As long as you realise your example actually shows Liu Bolin being painted to camouflage him, rather than using Photoshop. He is famous for it.

    It's good for a first timer, though the flashes from the gun seem to be maybe too big or too bright or something. The timing of the sound effects was a bit off and while most of the hand guns looked a similar calibre, each gun had a totally unique sound, granted the shotgun required a shotgun...

    Ok, the best thing you can do, is be aware as to the angle at which you are joining your lines, and then think maths. :banghead: If you can make sure that the lines you are joining up to are at a nice angle like a perfectly horizontal line, it will be so much easier for you.     Although following the advice already given will replicate the look, the 'effect' in the source image, is a setting on an image slider with a blur effect and low opacity white background for the text and navigation area. If you find out what jquery plugin that is, you won't need to recreate this...
