Upside Down Shadow Effects with Type Image

Have you changed the text in the "Reflected Text" layer? Plus, I don't see the reflected text at all in your link.

    Gradient help........

Dazco, Chester is right. You need to learn about masks, particularly layer masks (and in your case, the masks that go with an adjustment layer). To get an idea how they work, see Mark's tutorial on Layer Masks. It will give you a good idea how a mask works, and all masks work the same way.

Upside Down Shadow Effects with Type Image

Hiya, Benjamin, It's difficult to know without seeing the original ImageReady file, but one thing to check on: I'm assuming the shadow text is on separate layers. If so, make sure the layers are visible when you save the file. Also, check the opacity of those layers. I'm also assuming...

Wow! Quite a lot to think about, and a lot of great info. Thanks, Erik!! I usually start in Lab mode, as Erik mentioned, It seems to work well most of the time, but I've printed out everything here. So much to learn!

Ideas?? external HD ....PC to Mac

Hi, Laura, and welcome! Simplest way, at least to me, is to simply network the Mac and the PC, and make the Mac in charge of the network. It's a lot easier to set up in OS X than in Win98. (I know, I have both.) Erik has a good point about file extensions, but be careful in OS X. It...

    Photoshop

Welcome Balduvia! To answer your question, in brief, PS Elements is "Photoshop Lite," acutally a more powerful version than the old Photoshop LE. It's meant for the amateur or beginner, focussing mainly on importing and correcting digital photos. Its reason for being seems to be to make...

    New tutorial from Stroker

Chester, quoting out of context, and leaving out relevant parts of what people say is the oldest trick in the book, and the easiest to see through, especially when said quote is just a couple of posts up. So, please don't use what I said to "make your point" when what I said was just the...

ImageReady Filters Help ( newbie )

Glad to help, Wendy! Someone else turned me onto that tip and I'm happy to pass it on :) It's how I made my avatar. Subtip: If you want a background after you do all that, adding effects, turning layers into frames, start with a transparent image; add your effects, turn into layers, then...

    New tutorial from Stroker

I confess, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around displacement in general, and Stroker's tute specifically. But, what I don't understand is my fault, not Stroker's or the tute's. I know I have limited knowledge of displacement. I also know that it's a complex thing, and involves math (not...

Photoshop 7 One Click WOW! Will it work with Photoshop CS?

Cloak & Dagger, unless I'm badly mistaken, PS Wow 7 will work with PS CS. Traditionally, Adobe is backwards compatible, but not forward compatible (like many apps). So, what you can do in PS 7 will also work in CS, but not the other way around. In other words, brushes, styles, etc. may not work...

ImageReady Filters Help ( newbie )

Wendy is right...it's good practice to prepare everything as much as possible in Photoshop, then switch to ImageReady. Just be sure all your effects are on different layers. Little known or ignored tip for IR: In the animation palette, click on the little arrow on the far top right; you'll...

    Deleting layers

limey, you are correct. On a Mac, you hold down the option key while clicking the trash icon. The usual method of distinguishing between Mac and PC shortcuts is the way Mark did it: Alt/Opt. The Alt is for the PC, Opt for the Mac. That's a good thing to remember; for tutorials written for...
