I wonder why they do that...

One way to manage a large set (like the WOW! set...I have it too). Create a new set with the Preset manager, from the big set. Just divide it up into something you'll understand, name the new smaller sets and delete the biggie. That way, if you have the new set WowMetals current, it will...

I wonder why they do that...

Yeah, I agree it doesn't make sense. It should only load the current set (the last one you used) and point to other sets so you can call them up easily. I thought that's actually what it did? Unlike filters, which DO load at startup. There's a way to control the filters on launch, but I dunno...

    Bacground and transparancy issues

When you save for the web in Photoshop, make sure you choose GIF as Sue said, AND check the box next to transparency. Important: Be sure your smilie is on a separate, transparent layer. It doesn't matter what color the original background layer is; just hide it when you save for web.

    2 more Noob questions

If you want the fonts to show up only in PS, yes, that's where you'd put them...see this thread. If you want them available for all your programs, you'd need to put them in your OS's font folder.

Help! Only 6 filters? Trouble with Epson 925 photo printer!

Welcome to PS Gurus, Karin, and to the Mac! And I love your work! First, the PS filters problem: I assume you mean the filters that ship with Photoshop? Liquefy (among others) should show up under your Filters menu (where it belongs; in PS 6 it was under the Image menu). If you're talking...

    Colors above original picture (50%fill)

Hi, and welcome to the boards, JallaBalla! I'm a bit confused by your question....do you want an overall green tint to an image? Or do you want just some things green and not others?

    Fonts used ONLY for Photoshop...

Ahhhhh, found it! For Mac users (OS 9 & earlier) the Adobe font folder is in System Folder/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts/Reqd/Base I'm not at my own computer right now; I'll check in OS X tomorrow.

    Fonts used ONLY for Photoshop...

GREAT info, Mark! I can't find anything like the Common files/Adobe/Fonts thing on the Mac, but I'm still looking in all the usual places. It could well be called something else. I use Suitcase myself to manage fonts; I have so many that it would be insane to actually install them all in...

    Using selections and move tool

Without seeing the actual image, it's difficult to know exactly what's going on here, Lee, but here's my guess. Lightning is skinny. Even selected it's difficult to get the curser exactly on the thing. (Here's where the small curser comes in handy.) I assume you've checked your new...

Hello - First post, working on PSG Tutorial

Welcome, JustStarting! You really are making some progress, although sometimes it may not seem like it :) Gaussian and Wendy are right....at this point, Mark is probably the best one to answer your question, and unlike some webmasters, he's active on these boards. But don't ever...

    Type tool won't work Help

Glad you got it to work, Lynny! Interesting....I've never come across this particular problem before. I have had some tool or other suddenly stop working correctly (but not failing completely). In that case, moving the prefs file usually does the trick. Maybe PS just had to "reset" itself?

    Scratch Disk

Excellent summary, MindBender! And it's true that very often a new build of PS solves the problem. AND....sometimes the latest in your OS software will solve it. I remember with PS 6 and Mac OS 9.0.2, it wouldn't get rid of the temp files on the scratch disk like it's supposed to, so the disk...
