    White Point?

Thanks for that link, sPECtre....that's an excellent tutorial!

Unique plugin - Panopticum Lens Pro

Erik, did you download the version for After Effects or Photoshop? apparently, version 3.0 is for AfterEffects, and 2.0 is Photoshop. At least, it may be, but it's confusing. Under the "Photoshop" part, it lists 2.0 under the Photo FX bundle, but 3.0 for the individual filter. BTW, some of...

    Mac Question

Gotta take issue with this one, Erik :) My desktop unfortunately is a mass of junk...projects I'm working on, stuff I've "temporarily" put on the desktop and forgot to put away. Double-clicking on a file acts exactly the same as double-clicking anywhere else. The real difference here is, if...

    Missing PS Plugin

Lorne, have you tried searching on ebay? Sometimes you can find some older stuff there. I started using KPT filters with v. 3.0, so I don't know about this one.

    Layer Sets

Great topic, Gauss! The wonder of Layer Sets is something I'm fond of! More benefits: It cleans up a long layer palette Simply close the set and you can actually see stuff on the palette. Open as needed. It's a great way to organize for rollovers in ImageReady. I like to put all the...

    Want to see my work?

Yum. I love fruit. This inspired me to go out and buy a whole bunch. (Good thing I did it before the Great Honking Snowstorm hit!) Nice work, JoJo!

MY BROWSER IN PS7 IS STUCK!

Depending on how many images the file browser is being asked to display, it can hog up a lot of memory. There are ways to clear memory, including clearing your clipboard, history, etc. One of the fastest ways though is what you did....simply quitting and relaunching the app.

    Attach to path

Only way I know to do it in Photoshop is through a 3rd party filter: Human Software's Otto Paths.

    Photo-Fix

One trick on this kind of image, where you have obvious "bright" areas that you want to clone, like those scratches and bends, is to set the blending mode for the cloning tool to Darken (it's called "Mode" in the tool's option bar.) That will allow you to ONLY darken the parts of the image...

    two monitors

I can only speak for Macs...I've had 2 monitors attached for years. Currently one is a 21" and the other an ancient 15" The smaller one is used strictly for palettes. Depending on your computer and OS, you'll need a graphics card capable of handling the extra monitor, and giving the system...

    PS brush technics

Very very well done, JoJo! And I'm with Wendy here; far from being "less than impressed" that you used a picture to create a custom brush, I'm impressed that you used Photoshop's capabilities. Those features can really help, in time-saving and frustration. Photoshop is not really a...

    Photoshop Training by CD's

I notice that TotalTraining offers a 30-day moneyback guarantee, so it looks like your dollars are safe :) I've heard great things about this company, particularly about the Photoshop training. It features the great Deke McClellan, so it should be very good.

    PS brush technics

First, I'm not trying to be funny or offensive here, just responding to the question. Photoshop's brushes can no more make someone an artist than real bristle brushes can. That said, "non-artists" CAN produce very decent art, with traditional tools as well as with painting/editing software...

Moron Newbie needs to email a Photoshop pic

First, welcome, Eloise! Second, please do not call yourself a "moron newbie!" 8[ Don't be afraid to ask questions here. You've gotten some great answers here, and you'll learn a lot. You are certainly not a "moron" because you don't know something. You're willing to learn, and that makes...

    Reducing Images

Hi, Lee :) First, for anything you put online, you should always start with a 72 dpi image. Anything greater is wasted for screen viewing. Second, did you save your image as a gif or jpg? (File > Save for Web). That will reduce the file size. Save as either depending on the nature of the...

    PS brush technics

Hi, JoJo! Experiment with different brushes. PS 6 comes with some fairly interesting ones (awful ones, too!) and you can grab free ones from many sites. Some of them are image based. To start with, check out Adobe Studio Exchange Just make sure any brushes you download from there are for PS 6...

    Layers basics

Welcome, SkyGuy! Layers happen to be one of my favorite subjects :) You can do so much with them! And it sounds like you're off to a terrific start To answer your question about "using black and white" to blend, that's most easily done by a layer mask. You can apply a gradient, use a...
