    I wasn’t exactly sure what you disliked about your attempt so I just cleaned up noise and did some image sharpening. I also wanted to see what adding color to the mostly B&W image might look like. See next version too. Hope you like one of them.

    I had to watch a YouTube video to see what tinting should look like. Looks like it is mainly "some amount" of uniform darkening. See if this is what you had in mind. If not let us know what direction to go. If you like the results just repost the second image to get it modified as well.

    I gave it one more shot. I am doing this color adjustment by eye. There is likely a way to be able to sample the colors. I tried that using the RGB numbers, but it didn't give the results I was after. Hopefully this will be closer.

    I know you wanted to create this from scratch, but with the information provided I tried to manually remove your bottom overlay issue. I don’t think this is what you really wanted, but offer it as an option. Did the best I could on the letter "e"

    Sorry for the misunderstanding. It may help if you let everyone know what the original font name is. That would give us an idea of the starting point. I did a search, but didn’t find a match.

    I created an example of what your Photoshop file "MAY" look like. If the object you are trying to hide is on it's own layer then simply turn off that layer or drag it below the layers to hide it. See attached example. If everything is on one layer then you will have to just recreate the text...
