Within 'Image/Adjustment/'.. why should I use Levels on photos?

I'm assuming it's probably preference. Levels allows you to adjust simultaneously the lights darks and mid-tones to the general area you want them to be. I bet if you messed around with all three arrows in the levels panel you might learn to find it more versatile. If the other tool works...

    Canvas Size Issue

I'm pretty sure that canvas is supposed to crop. In fact, every time I adjust the canvas size, when I'm making it smaller, it asks "The new canvas size is smaller than the current canvas size; some clipping will occur." Image size shrinks the image like you're describing, but I don't know why...

An effect similar to "Define as Brush" without any actual brush-making.

That is exactly what I want. THANK YOU. I had never heard of the gray channel. All of the tutorials I found before this told me to to use pretty much all of them and ultimately didn't give me what I want. Simple fix. This is what I was hoping it was. It was me just being a tad too stupid to...

An effect similar to "Define as Brush" without any actual brush-making.

The beginning image is not a solid black, and yes it is filled in. I uploaded the wrong version of that lines. All my titles on my computer are similar. Just assume that that top image is solid black. You'll still get the point just fine.

An effect similar to "Define as Brush" without any actual brush-making.

I draw the image using actual ink, so there is no creating a layer on a transparent background. By coloring the lines I mean literally coloring the lines, not coloring them in. This is my image, with the levels adjusted to my preferred settings and all that jazz. Usually, I would define this...

    I'm new too!

Hi. I'm Victoria. Yeah. I'm going to be one of the honest ones and say that I only signed up because I had a question and needed to ask it, but after browsing through some of the questions other people have I think I may have a bit to contribute. I'm an illustrator so I mostly use Photoshop...

    Replace with similar image

I don't really see what's wrong with the lawn that house has, but at any rate, I'm sure you could create a new layer and paint a much lighter, more vibrant green over the lawn that is currently there and then change the layer setting to 'color'. I tried it really fast just to see how it would...

Im having a hard time cropping

It seems to me like you're going to be spending about two or three hours with the selection tool, hacking away at little bits and pieces of this guy's sharper edges and then another hour or so with a large 0 hardness brush on about 50% opacity on his softer edges. This will be a project, but...

An effect similar to "Define as Brush" without any actual brush-making.

I know that title doesn't really make much sense, but what I want to do is very specific and I can't imagine that there isn't a way to do it. I illustrate using ink, sometimes pencil, and when I bring those lines into Photoshop I often recolor them. So far I've only needed to recolor smaller...
