    Help with photo, probably really simple

    you dont have to create a new layer by clicking 'Create a New Layer' mate. Just unclock the background layer, select rectangular marquee tool -> select the area -> right click -> click Layer Via Cut.. If you still not getting the option, please post a screenshot of your screen

    I agree with Tomm Mann.. if it is your image... why dont you shoot with a good quality camera... no matter how many masks you apply, how many filters u use, the basic image quality would not be comparable to that of a Good quality camera shot.

    I agree with Sam, Pen tool always comes to the rescue but not in this case. You would have to type the text, rasterize the layer, Use transformation followed by Warp or Liquify tool to achieve the desired effect.
