    sample a similar colour from the sky and if you have the brush mode set to lighten or darken then it will only effect pixels that are lighter and darker. it is really easy to do, the trick is to leave some of the original sky texture there though to keep it looking natural.

    Do you know if it is After effects that is crashing or a 3rd party plugin. Sometimes loading a project which relies on a 3rd party plugin can crash after effects if that part of project is corrupt.

    Thats called tracking you can adjust the character space in any text editor under photoshop it is under character panel and there may even be a faux bold added to it, both can be seen here
