New to this photoshop thing and wondering about its capacities

What part of the image are you trying to keep? There's a multitude of ways to mask things off and some ways work better than others in any given photo...

    What is Grayscale?

All grayscale does is take color information and averages the luminosities and contrast to come up with the best monotone image. Greyscale = Monotone If a client said the credit card box is coming over pinkish this would lead me to believe there is color there. A barcode is a solid color...

Skin tones by the numbers, a la Margulis and Varis...

If the numbers you had were at c 23 m 33 and y 40 the only thing you should do in my opinion is take down the cyan to 12-15%. Leave the magenta and yellow alone, outside of that, you maybe overthinking this. Color is by numbers to some degree but it should always come down to what visually...

Skin tones by the numbers, a la Margulis and Varis...

What about the picture do you not like? The skin tones themselves or what these corrections did to the rest of the image? From my monitor it looks like there is too much yellow and she looks very golden but you could be looking at a very different picture just due to your monitor settings...

    Help with correcting skin tones

A good skin tone in cmyk is usually around 13% cyan, 33% mag and 38 yellow with little to no k in the midtone / hilite...... I usually make a mask for skin, take color readings and match using curves.

Color problems in photograph after SAVE AS jpeg?

On a side note : Working with print stuff all the time I like to work in CMYK. Now the problem with this is when I upload my photo's I've corrected and toyed with color to the internets, it is jacked. BUUUT, if I flatten my file, after it has been worked, and then convert to sRGB space, the...

Water Drops & Rain on Window Effect in Photoshop

We support but I for one do not frequent other apps. I play with Illustrator now and again as I'm sure a couple others do but outside of that I'm not sure there's a strong knowledge base around.

Water Drops & Rain on Window Effect in Photoshop

One more thing I might add, I've used this same technique for adding blood to photo's. It's a good zombifying (I know that's not a word lol) technique.

Water Drops & Rain on Window Effect in Photoshop

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Maybe not a 100% believable but realistic water is achievable just using filters and effects. I first chose a splatterbrush and made it huge. Clicked once. Changed Fill to 0%. Then went to bevel and emboss layers and started playing with effects. I made like 4...

Illustrator Differences between Illustrator and Photoshop

Some programs attempt to do it, rather poorly but pretty much labor free.. The best way to do it is with gradients..

    My competition entry

I like it. The isnignia and or the blue BB could use some type of texture to it but other than that...kewl. I think they just look kinda bland when compared to all the detail that was put into it behind and around them.

    Please help with wedding photos

I don't mean to re edit the same images someone's already done but I just go with the one I think I can do the most with... my imagination drags me around, up and down : ) Uploaded with ImageShack.us You can get the full sized from here ^^ gaussian, how'd you edit the first image so you...

Illustrator Differences between Illustrator and Photoshop

If you're dealing with vector it's best to do it in Illustrator. Photoshop is not TRUE vector. You can take a vector in Illustrator that is an inch by an inch and increase it to 100 inches by a 100 inches and it will not pixelate. Almost ALL logo's are created in Illustrator for this reason...

    Free lance work...

IDK about you but only when I'm feeling adventurous and ordering from a chinese take out menu do I sign my name to something I haven't seen or tried. Honestly this is why there are so many magazines,tv shows and internet forums focused on reviews...reviews of cars, pcs, restaurants... people...
