    So are you trying to make the original jpg bigger? So if you do stretch the jpg it will look so pixelated and so horrible. So why don't you use vegas to stretch the jpg?

    Canvas square

    I think the op needs the crop tool. There may be an action or a script to make something square but will only work if all/most of the pictures were not fussy where the crop occurred eg repeating textures or something plain . Otherwise me thinks this will have to be done one at a time.

    what is the best mouse for photoshop

    Pccasegear used to have mediums for around $300, it's a bit of a bummer that they only have large and bamboo. I have an adli tablet and it's rubbish, it doesn't even work properly in win 8 as it stutters the pen movement. I kinda wished I bought a bamboo or small Intuous 5. Maybe one day.

    That is easy peasy and you could even do it in ms paint. However unless you want a blurry looking poster you will need to get a better movie pic. Below is what a section of your picture looks like blown up to a 24x36 level.

    What do you think flatten image does? Don't flatten the image if you want to editable layers. :)
