    recover faded script against textured background

    Hi, I have been asked by a friend to recover the faded writing in this photo. (Reproduce the entire photo with the script visibly clearer/readable.) Although I can bring more clarity to the writing, I am unable to do so without enhancing the background texture of the paper it's printed on...

    Thanks guys, that's great for getting started and, yes, I'd like to know how to make a scar. The uploaded pic is just a crop of a low res copy for illustration here only, the original is shot on a 5x4 inch MPP camera (film) and scanned.
