    Age progression

I have seen a few threads on here about ageing the subject of a photo and thought I would have a go myself. My Wife and Son looked at my finished effort and told me that I haven't made him look older, I have made him look homeless! More homework needed for me I think.

    Image restoration.

Hi RTContent, if you let me have a copy of the original I'll restore it my way and you can compare the finished images. May give you some ideas about your process.

    Has this photo been doctored?

Maybe you could post the original image he sent rather than a screen cap from your phone? Would be easier to work with.

Picked on the Grand Son this time...

Haha, I love that! Can you tell me what approach you took as I have no idea how I would go about replicating this kind of effect.

    Old photo restoration

Thanks. Can you elaborate on this please? It's good to get other peoples thoughts on what can be a very insular process.

    Restoration of WW2 Soldier photo.

Have not had a chance to try your suggestion yet but I will get around to it later hopefully. Am always open to suggestions. As you said everybody has their own taste and it will improve my restorations to know what other people would prefer. At the moment I am only doing what I would like to...

Please help correcting black color in pictures

Are you trying to do something like this? Or to make the entire background darker?

I haven't done any image re-colouring before so I thought I'd give it a go...

    Old photo restoration

Thanks, I think it took me about six hours over a couple of days. But that was six months ago and I have nailed some of the basics since then, I could probably do it in 4 hours now

    undo and redo button

Just as an afterthought, would it not be possible to map an action for each to a couple of the function keys on the keyboard? I just made these and they work in my copy of PS CS6, obviously run your anti-virus on it first. They are mapped to F5 and F6 but you can change to anything you want.

    undo and redo button

I found the lack of undo/redo to be a major oversight, especially as I have arthritis in my hands so holding ctrl/alt/z and ctrl/shift/z isn't easy. Life is better now that I have them mapped to one touch buttons on my tablet.

    Restoration of WW2 Soldier photo.

Here is an image I restored of a WW2 soldier. It was studio shot in the 1940's and the print was hand coloured in the 50's. The artist seems to have omitted the buttons and it suffered water damage sometime thereafter. I struggled to get a workflow or any kind of sensible process going with...

    Old photo restoration

Hi iDad, thanks for your reply. No I don't mind at all and I'm glad for the feedback. I killed the tint early in the process as I assumed it was age related, although according to my wife I am often wrong :) Cheers for the step by step, I am 6 months in and still not confident with layers and...

    Old photo restoration

I started tinkering with restoration last year and this was one of my first portfolio jobs. An old holiday snap. Studio shot against cloth backdrop with pony and cart props. Sorry about the watermark. I had carte blanche with regard to the level of restoration and decided to keep it as...

    Hello from near Stonehenge, UK

Thanks for the welcome guys. As soon as I work out how to post and where to post it I'll throw out some of my restorations for critique. Back to browsing the forums for now.

    Hello from near Stonehenge, UK

Hi all, another newbie alert! I have been restoring old and damaged photo's for friends and family for about a year and I'm now learning CS6 and getting quite handy with my new tablet (xmas pressie from the Mrs). Will probably be spending the next few days reading through old posts here as I...
