Free for Educational/Non Commercial Use Thread

Thanks for posting this list. I've actually been using Dreamspark for about 6 months now. I just checked my account and Office is available to me. The software that one has available may differ based upon the agreement that one's school has with Microsoft. As to the other software...

The only brushes I've used thus far have been "soft round" and "hard round". :) I'll have to give these a try some time. Thanks for sharing.

Throwing My Hat Into the Colorization Ring

I used a gradient map overlay with the following colors. In fact, for the skin, I lifted the colors directly from the model below; so I am a little disappointed that the skin didn't turn out better.

    Cirlce line to be continous

George, Ibclare is actually one of the kindest members here. She was not being rude to you. I am sure that she did not mean to offend you. We all understand that english is not your native language. Ibclare was telling us that she did not understand what you were asking for, but she was...

    [HELP] Glass diffuse effect

Cadenzo, I didn't save a psd file. I played around with your image just a little bit, then uploaded the jpeg image you see above. After that I just deleted what I had as I have no need for it. Looking back at the original image, though, I would also change the lettering at the bottom a bit...

    [HELP] Glass diffuse effect

I copied the label by itself to a layer below the bottle. Then I used the clone tool to fill in the hole left in the bottle where the label was cut out. Set the bottle layer to multiply so that some of the light grays of the bottle darken the label behind it. I used a soft brush to extend the...

Throwing My Hat Into the Colorization Ring

I like the blue of your dress better. As for the shadows on her dress; did you adjust shadows / highlights, or just hit it with a burn brush?

Throwing My Hat Into the Colorization Ring

@RT, no doubt the full-colorization would help; but I don't know that I'm up for it. This was more of an experiment to see if I could do it. @claire, I didn't think this was appropriate for the factory floor; but what do I know? :)

Throwing My Hat Into the Colorization Ring

thanks, claire, for the feedback. I was just about to upload a modified version in which I had adjusted the shadows / highlights just a smidgeon. Very small change, but it made a bit of a difference.

Throwing My Hat Into the Colorization Ring

Seeing all the b&w colorizations that ALB Laser has been doing lately has inspired me to give it a try. I found this image in the Library of Congress archives that ALB linked to this afternoon. Thanks for the inspiration, ALB. This was a fun project.

    problems with clipping masks

just trying to help. plus, it gives me an excuse to learn something new. I had never even looked at clipping masks until Uri asked; so I had to try them for myself.

    Another colorization using different method

I'd say that's one of your better submissions. Good job, ALB.

    problems with clipping masks

Hi, Uri. For the clipping mask, the layer above is clipped to the layer below. That is to say, the shapes on the bottom layer will become the outline that is used. Based on your description above, this is what I think may be happening. I believe you may have drawn your black rectangles...
