    High contrast duotone?

Sure. This probably isn't the best image to use, but it seemed close to the original.

    High contrast duotone?

So, I'm on a duotone kick and I came across a photo that I really love. I know how to do duotone images, but this one is a bit different. There is a lot of contrast between the darks and highlights, but anytime I try, I get really blown out highlights. Any help would be appreciated.

What is this type of effect?

    Thank you, sir.

What is this type of effect?

I'm wondering if there is a technical name for this type of effect? I just did a google search for "gradient map design", but I really only found a few examples of what I was looking for. Also, I think I have an idea of how to create this effect, but if anyone has a nice tutorial, it would be...

    Facebook resolution??

This is true. I am in the process of building a portfolio website, but it's a really slow process. I do a lot of business through facebook, so it's a little frustrating to see how bad my images get compressed. I guess I just gotta role with it. Thanks for all the tips and help.

    Facebook resolution??

I think you're right Pips. I tried the methods in the link John posted and I didn't get any better results. I even tried 1640x620 with 300ppi and it still looks fuzzy. This is pretty frustrating seeing as I'm a graphic designer. If my designs don't look crisp and sharp, then that kind of makes...

    Adding designs to items

Making your own templates are pretty easy if you are familiar with photoshop. If not, then there are websites out there that have all ready made mockup templates for download.

    Facebook resolution??

So, this isn't really a photoshop question, but I didn't see a section that was relevant to my questions. If this needs to be moved, I'm sorry. First, I'm having issues with the resolution qualities when it comes to Facebook. I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing wrong. I look online for...

    Torn fabric effect

Thanks! I still wish I could get my effect to look as good as yours. Your shadows looks more real and the bevel is more apparent in yours than mine.

I added a texture and messed with the shadows some... Thoughts?

    Torn fabric effect

Okay, what about this. Is there a way to use the rip vector shape as an eraser or just cut that shape out of the arm and then add layer effects to make it look natural?

    Torn fabric effect

See, thats the thing. I need the underlying layer to be white. The tear or rip is supposed to look like the camo pattern fabric has been torn and it reveals a white fabric under it.

    Torn fabric effect

Basically, I'm importing a vector as a smart object and placing it on top of my arm layers. Then I am trying to use layer styles to blend them together

    Torn fabric effect

I'm still not having very much luck with the shadows. Could it be because of the white ripped shape? It just doesn't seem natural. I'll attach the shape I'm using for the rip. I think the camo sleeves look much better though.

ok thanks! Lets see how it goes.

    Torn fabric effect

IamSam, what effects did you use on the rip? It looks like you may have used an inner glow and then went around with a brush and added shadows or highlights.

    Torn fabric effect

That does look a lot better. I'll use your directions and see if I can match your results, then I'll see if I can get that rear effect to look better. All I'm supposed to be doing for my friend is designing a tear effect that he can use to print on his arm sleeves, but I guess when you're...

    Torn fabric effect

Here is the original image and the pattern I used. I tried making my own template, so that could be why it doesn't look natural or real.

    Torn fabric effect

I did make this mock up and I think it looks really good and I want to give it the same look with the digital camo, but I just think the pattern is making it hard for the shadows to show.
