    What do you think?

This is a pencil drawing that I did. I scanned it and added the color in Photoshop. What do you think?

Requesting C & C: Tank on the road

That is looking better. It is still looking a bit plasticy though.

Requesting C & C: Tank on the road

It appears to me to be a shadow that is falling across the snow and extends onto the pavement, not a puddle.

Requesting C & C: Tank on the road

I believe the shadows would pick up color from the ambient light source (the sky).

Requesting C & C: Tank on the road

The shadows on the pavement at the bottom right have a decidedly blue cast… Here is a comparison of the shadow color at the bottom versus the shadow being cast by the tank… This book by James Gurney is an excellent resource about the incredible complexity of color and light. :)...

Requesting C & C: Tank on the road

Looks pretty good. There are a couple of things I would suggest. One would be adding a blue tone to the shadow it's casting, if you look at the shadows in the photo, they are quite blue. The other thing would be to paint in some grunge or texture onto the tank so it looks more like metal than...

How to make attractive logos in photoshop?

Adobe Illustrator would be the better option for designing a logo. Illustrator creates vector art that can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. A pixel based logo would be much more limited as far as the sizes it could be used at. Vector imagery can be done in Photoshop but I haven't...

    Quick-and-Dirty Selections

Your selection looks very good but I did have a question. Why not use Quick Selection Tool and then Refine Edge? You have a ton of control with Refine Edge.

Convert to profile using custom CMYK/maximum black

Just to be absolutely clear. This is what the above mentioned ad sent as a JPEG would look like when converted to CMYK using Image>Mode>CMYK. In this example the black channel is turned off so you can see that the black type is showing up on the CMY channels. This is what the same...

Convert to profile using custom CMYK/maximum black

This is a way to convert a file to CMYK and have things that are black in the original file convert so that they are only on the black plate. I use this for times when a customer sends the newspaper I work at an ad as a JPEG in RGB  and I want the black text in the ad to only appear on...

    Hi

Actually I've worked at the newspaper for 23 years. For the past 16 I've been using Photoshop. The previous 7 years were spent in the darkroom developing film, prints, shooting halftones and shooting negatives of newspaper pages. Three years ago the company that did our printing bought the...
