    Transparent Image

Doc Ozone has got some good stuff for tricky backgrounds and GIFs. I believe it's Transparency 2. http://www.handson.nu Or you can try PNG, but not sure how well supported it is for your uses.

    A special painted effect...

I'm willing to toss out a combo that I've used plenty of times. Just the basic variation as different things need different things until the eyeball likes it. Load lum "the claw" and toss it into the channels palette. Deselect, invert it, and load (my variation). Add an HSB adjustment...

    3D Painting Reflection Maps

Another quickie using a Hubble photograph: NGC 4603 I did go back fix it a bit, but not sure when I'll addendum to the mini-tut.

    black net

When it comes to those kinds of things, it's all fishnet to me. You should hear me talk when I do laundry. There's denim, and then there's everything else. :P

    black net

I remember hearing about fishnet. I also remember a big debate about smearing vaseline on a lens. It was quite the fad to try different things over the lens for awhile there.

    3D Painting Reflection Maps

Quick-n-sleazy even for me. Painting Reflection Maps Thought I would give ya'll a holler on some low-tech tricks. Got some more junk coming when I get the time.

my pc is running toooo slow

Bad habits my woman has that slows down her machine: 1. Bad surfing habits. She just seems to get all of the those little bad thing running in the background from surfing. You know, things like Gator junk. 2. Bells-n-whistles offered by her OS. Stupid mouse pointer tricks, lots of colours...

PS CS plugin -- from Adobe.

I'm not a CS user, but I am *very* glad that they got those things fixed. Man, talk about wreaking havoc on various forums. If they do a point release or a service pack patch thing, I hope that the fix is incorporated.

Me for instance hitting me in the same pic with layers?

Photo of person in one position. Photo of person in a different position on another layer. Make a selection and turn it into a Layer Mask. Layer Mask = good gimme cookie

    3D Some 3d Images

Holy crap. I remember seeing those, or at least one of them. Can't remember if I said so, but it's a fantastic idea, and you have done some excellent execution. I might have to take a stab at it one of these days.

3D Need help with realistik Lighting effect...

Serg, learn both methods as far as you care too. Knowing how to light a scene for rendering is good. Knowing how to composite is good. In my experience, too many people get sucked into just lighting/rendering with out knowing much about post comping. Post comping is very powerful, and I...

3D Need help with realistik Lighting effect...

See attachment Upper-Left This is a lighting pass. Just regular global illumination (GI). Notice that all of the materials are pure white. Upper-Right Another lighting pass. The materials are still white. Just one light in the scene and it casts shadows. Lower-Left This is the...

3D Need help with realistik Lighting effect...

Sergiy, here is a simple post-compsiting trick. The first thing you need is an ambient pass render. Everything is self-illuminated 100% and no shadows. However, there should be colour on the objects. Then, change all of the materials on all of the objects to pure white. Add a light to the...

3D 3d Show Off Room II

Kids have been driving me absolutely nuts this past week. To help releave the stress, I grabbed a Poser model and began to Borgify him. Greebling rocks, but can be such a pain. You eventually reach the point to where you say, "Screw it! Let clipping take care of it." Then you just start...

    Microsoft patents "the click"

Perhaps this is what you are talking about? http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/06/02/1086058889577.html http://joi.ito.com/archives/2004/06/04/microsoft_patent_on_doubleclicking.html

    Removing a background

Go Welles! It's good to see destructive methods of extraction. That is, modifying the subject to match the background instead of being totally anal. After all, just copy the subject and there's your backup. Why do so many people miss this idea? Why is this meme still so prevalent? Good...

how to make this ray of light effect

Keeper, I can't seem to get into your stuff. I can see the front door, but all links are timing out for some reason. I hope I'm the only one. I'll check again in a few hours. Just the other day I uploaded my version which uses Polar Coords + Wind. See: Burst of Light. However, the examle...

    HOW-TO: Gradient effects

Bert! Good choice, Dodo. Well, this sucks. A few months after PS CS was released, several very excellant Lens Blur tutorials showed up in various 3D circles. Looks like they are all gone. At least I couldn't find any of them. Well, there are some out there, but the 3D ones, which were very...

    HOW-TO: Gradient effects

If you have PS CS, Lens Blur will do it perfectly. I took it for a spin once and was very impressed. For PS 7 and earlier, I haven't been able to find an acceptable way of going about it.
